Day 86

Anya was able to take two bottles today and did well with both of them. She still has a long way to go, she needs a lot of coaxing to take the bottle, but she has a good start. Because she gags so easily she can’t tolerate taking the bottle into her mouth very far, so we are still going very slowly. Her oxygen was turned down a little more today.

I am not sure when D-day is arriving. There has been some talk about hanging out in Gainesville for a few days to make sure everything is going well after discharge. Adam is not excited about this. I am not sure how I feel about it. Before discharge we will get the opportunity to spend the night in a room with Anya with all the equipment we will use at home. I think that will be enough, but there is some wisdom in spending a few days in one place. When you think about it, who gets their medically complicated baby out of the hospital and says ‘You know what we need to do? Take a road trip!’ I think we will play it by ear unless Dr. Kays or another part of the team insists that we stay. At least that is what I am saying now so Adam won’t glare at me. Looking forward to see what Anya does tomorrow!
